| The Saskatchewan in Training Athlete Recognition (STAR) program was created to assist coaches and athletes in maximizing their potential. The STAR program focuses on strong basics developed through drills while maintaining the critical importance of physical preparation. The STAR program recognizes that athletes at an early age with stronger bodies (physical preparedness) and with better execution of solid basics will surpass other athletes whose focus is solely skill orientated or those entering competition at an earlier age. Long-term success will ultimately be determined through mastering basic skill, or stages of skills. It must be understood, however, this program is only a small part of the many activities, which must take place during training development. |
