The Coaches Association of Canada (CAC) has developed the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) as a coach training and certification program for all coaches. The new NCCP is moving towards a competency-based approach where coaches are trained and evaluated in several core competencies.

Completion of an NCCP course provides coaches with an NCCP Coaching Certification number (CC#). Coaches can check their certification, get tips on coaching, and access resources on the Coaches Association of Canada webpage www.coach.ca.

Gymnastics Canada has developed the new Gymnastics Foundations NCCP Program for Instruction of Beginner Participants to take the place of previously known Level 1 courses.

A major change to the new program is that all of the components required for certification will now be offered through Gymnastics Saskatchewan and Gymnastics Canada.

In the coming years, the Level 2 and 3 training programs will also transition to the new NCCP.

The purposes of the NCCP are:
  • To promote and develop excellence in coaching in Canada.
  • To provide coaches at all levels with a systematic way to improve their knowledge and skill in the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of coaching.

The NCCP Certifies Coaches on Five Levels:
  • Gymnastics Foundations
  • Level 2 - Beginning Competitive Gymnastics
  • Level 3 - Provincial/National Gymnastics
  • Level 4 - High Performance Gymnastics
  • Level 5 - Master Coach
